El 16 de Agosto es el cumple de

Victor Victori, retratista, pintor, escultor, escritor y ordenado ministro nacido en 1943, originario de Corea del Sur.
Victori emigró a los EE.UU. en 1972 y asumió su primer proyecto, su mural presidencial de todos los presidentes hasta la fecha (1972) que actualmente se pertenece en la Colección Casa Blanca. Después de completar el "Mural Presidencial", Victori viajó por el país haciendo muestras y exposiciones de costa a costa durante 20 años. Se casó con María Victori en 1981, y abrió una galería de arte en 230 Park Avenue, Nueva York, NY. 1981 ~ 2000. Actualmente Víctor Victori está jubilado y vive en Rutherford, Nueva Jersey. Tiene cinco hijos. Victori es más conocido por su estilo único, el "multiplismo", que expresa en su obra para representar la trascendencia del estado de ánimo, la actitud y el alma.

El 17 de Agosto es el cumple de

Mykola Havrylovych Shmatko (Микола Гаврилович Шматько), escultor y pintor ucraniano contemporáneo. Nació en 1943 en Krasnogórivka, en la región de Donetsk de Ucrania.
Se convirtió en escultor a los 33 años, después de ser un bombero. Trabaja en mármol, inspirado en la cultura y el arte europeo. Su estudio y galería contiene 100 esculturas, más de 70 de los cuales están hechos de mármol italiano y de los Urales, 30 moldes de yeso y cerca de 300 imágenes (pinturas, gráficos, y proyectos arquitectónicos). En total, hay aproximadamente 750 piezas que van desde la simple decoración de bajo relieve, alto relieve, bustos y esculturas. Algunos de estos son de carácter sexualmente explícito. También trabaja en arquitectura, y tiene un diseño para un edificio de gran altura en forma de pene.
En 2000 fue nombrado profesor del departamento de Artes del Instituto de la Civilización Mundial de Moscú.

El 18 de Agosto es el cumple de

Carl Clemens Moritz Rungius, artista estadounidense de vida salvaje nacido en 1869 en Alemania, que emigró a los Estados Unidos y pasó su carrera pintando en el oeste de Estados Unidos y Canadá. Activo principalmente en la primera mitad del siglo 20, se ganó la reputación de ser el pintor de caza mayor más importante y el primer artista de fauna de carrera en Estados Unidos.
Rungius era un ávido deportista, y pasó más tiempo en la naturaleza que otros artistas. Con su observación directa de la naturaleza, fue capaz de obtener una visión excepcional en los animales y su entorno. Rungius pintó tanto paisajes como vida silvestre, a menudo ambos en una sola imagen. Los animales aparecen en su ambiente natural, una práctica que era nueva en la pintura a principios del siglo XX en Estados Unidos. Sus pinturas son muy románticas, y representan un mundo edénico sin ningún signo de impacto humano.
Murió en 1959.

El 19 de Agosto es el cumple de

Peter Reginato, escultor abstracto y pintor estadounidense nacido en 1945 en Dallas, Texas.
Creció en las colinas de las afueras de Oakland, California y asistió al Instituto de Arte de San Francisco. Comenzó a hacer escultura abstracta en 1965 y se trasladó a la ciudad de Nueva York en 1966 para dedicarse a su carrera como escultor. En 1967 fue incluido en varias exposiciones colectivas, incluyendo su presentación de una pieza importante en el Park Place Gallery de Nueva York.
Durante su carrera temprana estuvo representado por la galería Tibor de Nagy y estuvo asociado con la Park Place Gallery. Fue incluido en las Bienales de 1970 y 1973 del Museo Whitney de Arte Estadounidense. Veterano con más de 50 exposiciones individuales y cientos de exposiciones colectivas, es bien conocido por sus esculturas abstractas pintadas de acero soldado.

El 20 de Agosto es el cumple de

Bernard Dumaine, artista francés nacido en 1953, conocido por su trabajo en fotorrealismo y surrealismo, y por sus diseños de fondo de dibujos animados de televisión. Trabaja en una variedad de medios, incluyendo pinturas al óleo, pinturas de acrílico, grafito, pintura digital, collage digital y vídeo.
Actualmente trabaja en su mayoría con medios digitales, pinturas al óleo y lápiz. También está haciendo obras de cadáveres exquisitos en colaboración con muchos artistas internacionales, y estos trabajos de colaboración han sido recientemente expuestos en galerías de toda Francia.

El 21 de Agosto es el cumple de

Jean-Baptiste Greuze, pintor francés nacido en 1725.
Por lo general se dice que formó su propio talento; esto es, sin embargo, cierto sólo en el sentido más limitado, ya que desde una edad temprana sus inclinaciones, aunque frustradas por su padre, fueron animadas por un artista lyonés llamado Grandon, o Grondom, que disfrutó durante su vida de una considerable reputación como pintor retratista.
En 1759, 1761 y 1763, Greuze exhibió cada vez con mayor éxito; en 1765 alcanzó el cenit de su poder y reputación. En ese año fue representado con no menos de trece obras.
Murió en 1805.

Hoy, 22 de Agosto, es el cumple de

Valentín de Zubiaurre Aguirrezábal, pintor español nacido en 1879. Nació sordomudo, al igual que su hermano Ramón de Zubiaurre, también pintor, tres años más joven que él. Ambos eran hijos del compositor musical Valentín de Zubiaurre Urionabarrenechea.
A pesar del gran deseo paterno de que alguno de sus hijos siguiera con la vocación musical, la fatalidad quiso ambos nacieran sordos.
Valentín inició sus estudios en la Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando en 1894, continuándolos posteriormente junto a los pintores Muñoz Degrain, Alejandro Ferrant y Carlos de Haes. En 1898 realizó un viaje por los Países Bajos, Francia e Italia para completar su formación.
Consiguió la Primera Medalla de la Exposición Nacional de Bellas Artes en 1917, junto a Joaquín Mir y Eugenio Hermoso.
Cultivó una pintura costumbrista, en la que proliferan los temas vascos y castellanos, donde la solidez de las figuras se compenetraba con un hondo sentido del colorismo. No le fue fácil obtener el reconocimiento oficial. En una época en la que el naturalismo y el impresionismo eran las tendencias dominantes, Zubiaurre realizaba una pintura más intelectual, aunando por un lado la maestría de su arte con la elaboración intelectual de la idea.
Murió en 1963.

On August 16 is the birthday of

Victor Victori, portraitist, painter, sculptor, author and ordained Minister originally from South Korea, born in 1943.
Victori emmigrated to the U.S. in 1972 and took on his first project, his presidential mural of all the past and up to date (1972) American presidents which currently resides in the White House Collection. After completing the "Presidential Mural," Victori travelled the country doing shows and exhibitions for 20 years from coast to coast. He married Maria Victori in 1981, and opened an Art gallery on 230 Park Avenue, New York, NY. 1981~ 2000. Currently Victor Victori is retired, and lives in Rutherford, New Jersey. He has five sons. Victori is most widely known for his most unique style, "Multiplism," which he expresses in his work to depict the transcendence of mood, attitude and soul.

On August 17 is the birthday of

Mykola Havrylovych Shmatko (Микола Гаврилович Шматько), contemporary Ukrainian sculptor and painter. He was born in 1943 in Krasnohorivka, the Donetsk region of Ukraine.
He became a sculptor at the age of 33, after being a firefighter. He works in marble, inspired by European culture and art. His studio and gallery contains 100 sculptures, more than 70 of which are made of Ural and Italian marble, 30 plaster casts and about 300 pictures (paintings, graphics, and architectural projects). In total, there are approximately 750 pieces ranging from simple decoration to bas-relief, high relief, busts and sculptures. Some of these are sexually explicit in character. He is also working in architecture, and has a design for a penis-shaped highrise building.
In 2000 he was appointed a professor of Arts department by Moscow Institute of World Civilization.

On August 18 is the birthday of

Carl Clemens Moritz Rungius, a leading American wildlife artist born in 1869 in Germany though he immigrated to the United States and he spent his career painting in the western United States and Canada. Active primarily in the first half of the 20th century, he earned a reputation as the most important big game painter and the first career wildlife artist in North America.
Rungius was an avid sportsman, and spent more time in the wilderness than other artists. By direct observation in nature, he was able to gain an exceptional insight into the animals and their environment. Rungius painted both landscapes and wildlife, often with both into a single picture. He situated animals in their natural environment, a practice that was new to painting in early twentieth century North America. His paintings are highly romanticized, and represent an Eden-like world without any signs of a human impact.
He died in 1959.

On August 19 is the birthday of

Peter Reginato, American abstract sculptor and painter born in 1945 in Dallas, Texas.
He grew up in the hills outside Oakland, California and he attended the San Francisco Art Institute. He began making abstract sculpture in 1965 and moved to New York City in 1966 to pursue his career as a sculptor. In 1967 he was included in several group exhibitions including showing a major piece at the Park Place Gallery in New York.
During his early career he was represented by the Tibor de Nagy Gallery and was associated with the Park Place Gallery. He was included in the Whitney Museum of American Art's Biennial in 1970 and 1973. A veteran of more than 50 solo exhibitions and hundreds of group exhibitions, he is best known for his abstract painted welded steel sculptures.

On August 20 is the birthday of

Bernard Dumaine, French artist born in 1953, best known for his work in photorealism and surrealism styles and for his background designs for television cartoons. He works in a variety of media, including oil paints, acrylic paints, graphite pencil, digital painting, digital collage, and video.
He is currently working mostly in digital media, oil paints, and pencil. He is also doing Exquisite corpse works in collaboration with many artists internationally, and these collaborative works have recently been exhibited in galleries across France.

On August 21 is the birthday of

Jean-Baptiste Greuze, French painter born in 1725.
He is generally said to have formed his own talent; this is, however, true only in the most limited sense, for at an early age his inclinations, though thwarted by his father, were encouraged by a Lyonnese artist named Grandon, or Grondom, who enjoyed during his lifetime considerable reputation as a portrait-painter.
In 1759, 1761, and 1763 Greuze exhibited with ever-increasing success; in 1765 he reached the zenith of his powers and reputation. In that year he was represented with no less than thirteen works
He died in 1805.

Today, August 22, is the birthday of

Valentine Zubiaurre Aguirrezábal, Spanish painter born in 1879. Born deaf, like his brother Ramon de Zubiaurre, also a painter, three years younger than him. Both were sons of the composer Valentin de Zubiaurre Urionabarrenechea.
Despite the great paternal desire that one of his sons follow with musical vocation, fate wanted both born deaf.
Valentine began his studies at the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando in 1894, later continued them with painters Muñoz Degrain, Alejandro Ferrant and Carlos de Haes. In 1898 he traveled to the Netherlands, France and Italy to complete his training.
He got the first medal of the National Exhibition of Fine Arts in 1917, with Joaquín Mir and Eugenio Hermoso.
